Cannabidiol and Bone Healing/Regeneration
New studies suggest that hemp CBD oil containing the active ingredient Cannabidiol may be useful in the bone healing process by stimulating regeneration. This study, first published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research strongly suggests that the active ingredient in Cannabidiol stimulates an enzyme and osteoblasts, which are bone cells involved in collagen crosslinking and stabilization, thereby increasing bone mass during the healing process and minimizing the likelihood of fracture in the future.

Current treatments used to increase bone growth and healing include bone grafting which is used to stimulate normal bone growth with either donor bone tissue or autologous (tissue from the patients’ own bone) in an effort to allow bone to heal in a natural way. http://www.biomedcentral.com/1741-7015/9/66 It is obvious that any method of treatment which is non-invasive, has little or no side effects and encourages the natural healing process would be the most beneficial.
Although current research using Cannabidiol for bone healing has not been performed using human trials there are groups such as Project CBD, Discover CBD and others are pushing for this. More recently we have also seen political leaders such as Gov. Mark Dayton from Minnesota and Dianne Feinstein, senior senator from California and co-chairman of the Caucus on International Narcotics Control, who are advocates for the advancement of research specifically on CBD oil and its’ benefits as well as the push to ”streamline the licensing and regulatory processes so research can move ahead.”
Of course, if you don’t want to wait around for another ten years’ or so worth of research – or have already read through our many blog posts on the matter – you can find a great selection of hemp-derived CBD products here on DiscoverCBD.com.
