Can CBD Help For Pain

Most of us have experienced moments of acute pain, usually as a result of an injury or brief illness. For many, however, pain is a constant part of life. It is ongoing every day. Chronic. Some experts point out that chronic pain represents an emerging public health issue of massive proportions, particularly as the population ages. An article in PubMed, a library of medical findings maintained by the National Institute of Health, quotes studies that show 50% or more of older persons suffer from persistent pain. One cause of chronic pain is arthritis, which can affect individuals as young as four years of age.

Hurting all the time can be debilitating, and it can lower the quality of life in many ways, interfering with both professional and leisure pursuits. For the last year, I have been struggling with pain from a knee injury I received during my teen years. Medical wisdom recommended the standard over-the-counter painkillers containing ibuprofen and naproxen. But after reading the warnings issued by the FDA for these popular medications, I began searching for something more natural, and with fewer side effects. For me, high quality CBD oil extracted from hemp has been the answer.

CBD oil has a long history of wellness and healing, dating back 2000 years when the Chinese first recognized it as helping with discomfort associated with arthritic conditions. Recently, interest in the healing properties of CBD oil has been rekindled, and while clinical research is in the early stages, institutions such as the National Institute of Health (NIH) are issuing reports that show positive outcomes for CBD oils for mitigating pain, and for reducing the inflammation that causes many of the diseases responsible for chronic pain. Some of the reports I have read are technical and complex, but to distill the information, there are good reasons why cannabis compounds such as CBD oil are beneficial.

NIH findings show that some of the active pharmacological components of the cannabis plant, the source of CBD products including CBD oils and tinctures, mimic an internal chemical system in the human body that stabilizes health and reduces harm. It is called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), and its job is to produce endocannabinoids.

Our endocannabinoids are responsible for keeping important biological functions in balance including sleep, appetite, our immune systems, pain and more. Whenever your body gets out of balance, these endocannabinoids go to work to correct the problem and restore proper balance. When your body’s internal endocannabinoids can’t handle the job alone, CBD can be effective in helping the body manage crises and restore itself.

The NIH has recently issued a new explanation of inflammatory and analgesic effects of CBD, It is based on the discovery that CBD is able to promote signaling of the adenosine receptor A2A by inhibiting the adenosine transporter. But it is really technical.

An analysis of a recent survey, published in Natural News is easier to read. It discusses how hemp oil is changing chronic pain management through its anti-inflammatory mechanism. This is good news for people like me who want pain relief without side effects. I have only been on CBD oil for six weeks, however, the results are noticeable. I am able to hike, jog and dance in high heels without discomfort, and at last I can sleep all night without being awakened by intense pain.

My source for top-grade CBD oil extracted from non-GMO hemp is Discover CBD. I am using the pre-loaded 1 gram Active CBD oil gold syringe. It has a nice concentration of 25% CBD. Over the next few weeks, we will be reviewing several products from Discover CBD, and look forward to sharing the results with you.
