CBD oil capsule buyers guide and differences explained:

A quick fast and easy way to ingest CBD oil on the go and lasts all day? This is the goal of many CBD capsule manufacturers however their are lots of types of cannabidiol capsules available. Why are their different types and what are those different types? These are the questions we will answer in this short article so before you buy CBD oil capsules online read this article!

CBD oil bases for High CBD hemp capsules:

Hemp CBD oil can come in many forms from 3% CBD (or less) all the way up to around 80% CBD.

CBD oils- CBD oil will have varying percentages as well as other cannabinoids, lipids, terpenes, vitamins and minerals. Regardless of the type of oil used it will generally do relatively close to the same thing so long as your getting the same amount of mg's of CBD per capsule. While its very rare on any large scale to make capsules that simply contain CBD oil they do exist but generally only by those making it in their home. Generally CBD oil based capsules will be mixed with some kind of base like MCT oil which bulks up the volume of each capsule so its easier to manufacture plus it makes the oil much more bio-available than when its just by itself. The other thing you will see is manufacturers spraying CBD oil onto a powder base so they can accurately make the dosage the same in every capsule and so they wont leak as they would with a liquid.

A good example of these two types of CBD oil capsules are the Active CBD oil MCT infused capsules and the Active CBD oil "Gold" capsules. The "Gold" line 25mg capsules are a powder base where as the Active MCT oil infused capsules are an oil base.

CBD isolate- The other kind of base you can have is a CBD oil isolate based capsule. These capsules will generally be mixed with other inert powders to bulk up the volume of each capsule since isolate is very pure and only a little is required to get very high mg's. Currently we do not see any CBD isolate capsule manufacturers but are expecting them to come around soon as the price of isolate is dropping in price dramatically over the past 2 years.

Water Soluble- The third type of CBD oil base is a water soluble CBD oil capsule. These capsules are new to the market and offer great bioavailablity but will also typically include a hefty pricetag. These capsules will generally be a powder as well. Typically water soluble CBD oil powders are full profile concentrates plus binders. What this means is that the water soluble powder will contain other cannabinoids other than just CBD in contrast to the isolate which is strictly just CBD and no other cannabinoids.

A great article describing the different types of CBD oil's can be found HERE

Type and shape of capsule:

All three types of capsules, CBD oil. CBD isolate, and water soluble CBD oil can be either a 2 piece capsule or a Gel cap. While Gel caps are just now starting to hit the market we expect them to steadily grow in popularity over the next couple years. Currently we are anticipating Active CBD oil's new "Water soluble, Full profile, THC removed, Gel caps" which are rumored to be hitting the shelves around Fall of 2016.

Full plant profile or just CBD?

Most cannabidiol oil capsules will be "full profile" meaning they contain CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN and in some cases trace amounts of THC as well as CBD. The exception to this is isolate based capsules since they are ONLY CBD and contain no other cannabinoids. Most water soluble powders will also be THC removed but will contain all the other cannabinoids.

Common questions regarding CBD oil capsules will include:

Whats the recommended starting dose for a CBD oil capsule?

Generally people will take between 15mg and 50mg of CBd a day in capsule form. If you are using water soluble CBD oil capsules or are using capsules infused with MCT oil or something else added to increase absorption you might be fine using less than normal. Unfortunately this question is not easy to answer since everyone is different and everyone's endocannabinoid system is different. Typically there will a bit of trial and error to find the correct dosage for you and your situation.

Why are my CBD oil capsules powder and not oil?

Many manufacturers will spray the oil onto powders (some inert and some not) so they can more accurately fill each capsule to its designed specs. CBD oil in itself is very sticky and difficult to work with not only for humans but for the machines that do the encapsulating. Another reason might be that you got CBD isolate capsules. CBD isolate capsules will be a powder because the CBD has been refined so far that it is no longer an oil and is just a powder that's generally off-white to dull white to brilliant shiny white. Yet another third reason your capsule could contain a powder is if you purchased water soluble capsules. Most water soluble CBD oil's are powders and will be encapsulated exactly as they are in powder form.

Why does one brand of CBD oil capsules cost twice as much as another brand?

Good question that has no good answer. This could be due to a number of different factors including manufacturers MSRP, manufactures proprietary formula, different technologies used to make the capsule, varying prices of oil depending on manufacturers purchase strength etc etc etc. All the differences in price can be mind boggling but the important part is the mg's of cannabidiol per capsule. Generally this will be the main determining factor when a manufacturer is determining a price for their product however this price will increase if its water soluble CBD oil or something else unique.

Hopefully this short article will help explain CBD oil capsules in greater detail so you as a consumer can be better educated on what it is your buying and make a better decision as to whats best for you.
