Cancer, by definition, is any cell found in the human body that has unchecked growth, thereby endangering the host with its spread. With that growth comes inflammation and, often, compression of nearby tissue and organs, causing pain that can be unrelenting and disabling. Common treatments for cancer are chemotherapy and radiation therapy, both of which can also cause inflammation and breakdown of healthy tissue along with the tumorous cancer cells. The main symptoms most cancer patients complain of are pain, loss of appetite, and nausea. Research suggests that cannabinoids may be helpful for chronic pain and nausea as well as promote appetite stimulation, regardless of whether the cannabinoids are derived from hemp or marijuana. Newer studies demonstrate that when used in conjunction with traditional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, cannabidiol may encourage a synergistic effect and increase the efficacy. Other possible effects of cannabinoids include:
Blockage of cell growth
Inhibits the growth of blood vessels that supply tumors
