Do you have a tendency to overstress, or overthink? I know I do, and I’m here to share some potential remedies to relieve stress, and the things that come with it. I find oftentimes when you express these thoughts or concerns to somebody, you get an answer you don’t want to hear or try. Maybe meditation was one of those suggestions at one point, and you didn't see the benefit or potential in it. Well, have you considered mediating with CBD? There are so many forms of meditation and methods of consumption for CBD, and I’m here to share with you ways and methods you can use to potentially improve yourself when it comes to stress and overthinking.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is an ancient practice that goes back many, many years. Despite how old the practice is, it is still used today to help with brain health and overall well being. This can be beneficial for immune health & stress reduction. Meditation involves focus and clearing your mind using mental and physical techniques. This may include methods like, sitting somewhere quiet and listening to music, going for a walk, doing yoga, etc. That being said, there are many different types of meditation , and I’m gonna teach you different ways to meditate whilst incorporating CBD. But first, let’s go over some common ways to meditate to get more familiar with the practice.

Different Types of Meditation:

Mindfulness Meditation: Mindfulness meditation originates from Buddhist teachings, and it is the most popular researched meditation in the Western world. In this form of meditation the main goal is to pay attention to your thoughts as they pass through. You don’t judge your thoughts, you simply observe them. Some people take note of thinking patterns, and habits to help make them clear. This is a good form of meditation for people who don’t have a guide/teacher, as this can be easily practiced alone.

Focused Meditation: Focused meditation is a method that involves using any one of the five senses. For example, focusing on your breath, staring at a candle flame, listening to/using a singing bowl, are all ways you can use your senses to practice Focused Meditation. This method can be good for people who have trouble focusing or get overwhelmed.

Movement Meditation: Movement meditation is just like how it sounds. It’s the method of using movement to reconnect with yourself or things around you. This can be a great form of meditation for people who have trouble connecting with the present moment or their bodies. When people see this method of meditation they most often think of Yoga, but there are many other ways of this practice such as going for a hike, gardening, or any physical calming hobby that you enjoy personally.

Flow State:

Sometimes while meditating or even unintentionally we reach a state called the Flow State . The Flow State happens when under the right conditions you become fully immersed in whatever you're doing. This is when you’re giving your full attention to an activity or task that you love very passionately. There are even times when you reach a flow state, and you don’t even know. For example, you may reach your flow state by baking, painting, or really by doing any hobby that you deeply enjoy.

CBD & Reaching Flow State:

When we overstress or overthink, occasionally we can do things we enjoy and still not reach a flow state. This can be due to the fact that we have a lot going on in life and can’t focus or maybe the stress from some aspect in our life is too much. CBD could potentially help you reach that flow state as CBD has been shown to benefit stress, focus, pain, and sleep. While pain and sleep may not seem like it may have anything to do with reaching flow state, sometimes not getting enough sleep or being in too much pain can infringe on how well we do in life, since it is a big part of how our bodies can function.

What is CBD, CBG, & CBN?

  • CBD (Cannabinidol) is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant that is non psychoactive. It may be used to help with things such as stress, pain, sleep, etc.

  • CBG (Cannabigerol) is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant that is non psychoactive and is referred to as “The Mother of all Cannabinoids.” CBG may help with issues regarding inflammation, joint pain, focus, and maintaining energy.

  • CBN (Cannabinol) is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant that is non psychoactive with a slightly different chemical structure as well. CBN may help with issues related to sleep, having trouble calming down, or stress related physical pain.

CBD, CBG, CBN & Meditation:

Now that we’ve gone over the different types of meditation, different cannabinoids, and flow state, let's go over how we can incorporate all of these things together.

Let’s start with mindfulness meditation & focused meditation, and how you can incorporate CBD with it. These two forms of meditation are very similar, and can also have similar methods with combining CBD. Some ways you can utilize this practice is by journaling, or doing breathing exercises. If you plan on journaling, or doing breathing exercises, some ways you can include CBD or CBG is by using a tincture if you prefer oral use for faster absorption. At Discover CBD we have Water Soluble CBD oil (and CBG oil) that can be taken sublingually or more popularly can be put in a glass of water, or really any beverage of your choice or you can go the route of inhalation which will give you the fastest method of absorption. If you prefer the method of inhalation, this can be great for focused meditation and deep breathing. You can choose to focus on the smoke and watch that or focus on your inhale and exhale while you’re smoking, which could be really relaxing. We also carry bulk hemp flower, prerolls, and vape cartridges at Discover CBD, if this is a method you want to pursue.

Next, we can talk about Movement Meditation and how to incorporate CBD alongside it. Some popular methods of this meditation can be working out, going for a hike, doing yoga, etc. Some ways you could include CBD in this is by taking our CBD capsules, or gummies. Gummies are some of our longer lasting products, as they usually last 6-8 hours throughout the day. Our capsules typically take 10-20 minutes to fully react and last 8-10 hours. Either of these products can be great for going on long hikes, or if you're just looking for something to last a long time while you're engaging in movement meditation. They may also benefit you in the aspect of pain. Even though this form of meditation can be great and bring you to a flow state, you may experience soreness or pain from doing physical activities. CBD or CBG can also be great for pain or soreness relief.

Aside from these methods to meditate, some people may feel the most stressed before bed. If this is the case, you could potentially try focused meditation while laying down. Some ways you could include CBD, or CBN in this is by using our water soluble CBN tincture in a cup of tea. We also have our Wyld CBN+CBD gummies (25mg CBD & 5mg CBN per gummy) which can be great to take before bed as they last 6-8 hours. Gummies typically take 30 minutes to an hour to kick in so practicing breathing exercises before bed may be a great way to wait for the gummy to take effect, hopefully leading towards a seamless sleep.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a potential way to help relieve stress in your life and want to go the route of meditation, not only are there a lot of methods of meditation, there are a lot of ways to integrate CBD, CBG, and CBN with it for a more seamless journey. We at Discover CBD want you to live the best life that you possibly can, stress free, pain free, etc, and we hope that our products can help you achieve a more smooth sailing meditation and flow state experience.
