Shine Music Festival Review

The city of Denver is renowned for its appreciation of the arts as well as live performance, and the employees of Discover CBD are no exception. So when we heard about a free festival featuring 11 different bands happening at Denver’s new venue, Levitt Pavilion , we knew we wanted to attend. After looking into the mission statement of Shine Music Festival we learned that the whole event was based around the healing power of music. While most of us have all had the first hand experience of the therapeutic benefits of live music, there is a large portion of our community that has never been able to participate. Shine’s mission statement reveals “For over one billion people, or 15% of the world’s population, attending a live music event is impossible due to lack of accessibility”.

There I was, thinking back on how rough it was for me personally to go through 2020 without the live music experience, when this statistic hit me hard. This led us at Discover CBD to think about our customer base, the people we talk to and see every day in our stores, many of them likely fall under this 15% category. As a company, we knew we needed to do more than just attend this awesome event, we wanted to be involved and support as well as educate our community. We reached out to Shawn Satterfield, President of Shine Music Festiva l to get involved, and the more we learned about Shawn, the more we realized our missions aligned. It was a no-brainer, we signed up for our vendor booth, packed our supplies and headed to Levitt Pavilion on Sunday, August 8th.

When the day finally came we looked around in awe, Shine had completely transformed this outdoor venue to be totally accessible. Ramps were set up all along the lawn for easy access to all wheelchair bound concert-goers, food and drink menus were available in braille format, and the Autism Community Store provided a mobile sensory bus for a peaceful shelter for participants who may be overwhelmed by the sensory challenges a music festival may present. Shawn and her team had thought of it all, providing a phone app to assist the visually impaired find their way around the festival sight as well as booths for organizations Feel The Beat and Full Body Sound who use Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and vibrotactile technology to allow deaf patrons to physically feel the live music coming from each stage!

Once we were all set up and settled in, concert-goers from all walks of life came to us excited to learn about the benefits of CBD. We knew we were in the right place at the right time. Levitt Pavilion is settled directly in the middle of both of our Denver store locations , and this was the perfect way to reach our community. We met so many people who thanked us for being there and loved the benefits they felt from our many products we provided at our booth. We came fully equipped with a specially tailored menu of our Active CBD Oil gummies , MCT Oil Tinctures , CBD Capsules , Bath Bombs , Lotions as well as Salves and so much more! We knew we couldn’t forget about all the working service dogs attending either, so we made sure to bring plenty of our Active CBD Oil Dog Biscuits and our Bacon Flavored Pet Tinctures !

Everyone we spoke to was so excited to be there and were all so excited to see Discover CBD there too! This was an amazing opportunity to get involved with our community and come together to be a part of this one of a kind event. We can’t wait to contribute again next year and will be closely watching Shawn Satterfield and Shine Music Festival to see what revolutionary things they come up with next!
