Where To Apply CBD Patches?
Unlike most topicals, CBD back pain patches do break the skin/blood barrier meaning you do not have to apply the patch directly to where you are feeling the most pain. Transdermal Patches tend to work best in very venous areas such as your feet, wrists, back, neck, and even under your arms. Since you can easily cut the CBD skin patches, you are able to apply the Active CBD Oil Pain Patch comfortably to virtually any area of the body. Keep in mind that the total dose for each patch will be reduced when cutting them into smaller pieces so in half each would yield thirty milligrams of CBD, and quarters would yield fifteen milligrams of CBD. This is also a great option if you have multiple areas of pain you want to target with multiple patches without wanting to take too high of a dose of CBD. Several studies have shown that CBD has a dosing pattern that works on a bell curve where too high of a dose may result in a decrease in effectiveness. Beyond that, the most that we ever hear about the negative side effect of taking too high of a dose of CBD is that it may make you feel more tired than normal. This is often why we usually see people newer to trying out these CBD oil patches start with at least a quarter or half to test them out.
CBD Patches for Pain
A group of researchers from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky, sought to discover the efficiency of transdermal application of CBD for pain management in their study “Cannabidiol bioavailability after nasal and transdermal application: effect of permeation enhancers”
The data collected indicated that “the steady-state plasma concentration of CBD in guinea pigs after transdermal gel application was 6.3 ± 2.1 ng/mL, which was attained at 15.5 ± 11.7 hours. The achievement of a significant steady-state plasma concentration indicates that CBD is useful for chronic pain treatment through this route of administration.” Although this study and a few others are making promising discoveries, more clinical data is still needed to fully understand the potential benefits of using a transdermal application of CBD.
CBD Patches
Research shows that most topical products that are applied directly to the skin have an insignificant absorption into the bloodstream, only penetrating about the first five layers of skin. Unlike most topical products, transdermal CBD patches are specifically designed to penetrate through the skin to enter the bloodstream directly. This is where the name transdermal comes from as trans is the Latin root for across and derma is the Greek root word for skin. Many people who regularly use a CBD topical product like a lotion or salve often share that the potential effects of pain reduction may only last them anywhere from two to six hours on average and they typically need to reapply more through the day as needed. Our CBD pain relief patches have a wear time of forty-eight hours as a slow release of the CBD over that period of time. This makes transdermal CBD patches a great option for people who are often traveling or on the go without as much time to stop and apply their topical CBD product. Some consumers of topical products will share that they do not like to use their hands to apply an oily lotion or salve to their skin and some of these products may even leave stains on one’s clothing when they are still being absorbed. Transdermal CBD topical patches are an excellent option to bypass the need to massage a product directly to the afflicted area.
From what some studies gather, CBD oil pain patches are suggested to have some of the highest rates of bioavailability or the percentage of CBD actually absorbed being at around ninety percent or higher. This means that you can ideally take less CBD and get more actually absorbed than other methods of consumption so you can save money while potentially getting long lasting relief. The second closest product that would match our CBD back patches in terms of high bioavailability and longer potential duration of effect would be our CBD capsules as our proprietary water soluble formula is suggested to have a rate of bioavailability around sixty to eighty percent or higher, and as an ingestion method of consumption has an average potential duration of effect of approximately six to ten hours. Our water soluble CBD tinctures could also tie for second in these areas when you mix the drops into the food or beverage to ingest rather than taking them sublingually by holding the oil under the tongue for a minute or two and swallowing.
Endocannabinoid System
In order to better understand how transdermal CBD patches work, it may be helpful to first see how it works in the human body. Research shows that CBD interacts in our body with a naturally occurring system found in all mammals called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which plays a vital role in regulating homeostasis or balance within the body. This is why it is suggested that CBD helps with such a plethora of various conditions and ailments. The endocannabinoid system consists of three main components; the cannabinoids, cannabinoid receptors, and enzymes.
We produce our own endocannabinoids that are made from fat-like molecules within cell membranes that are made as needed whenever the body observes an imbalance. The first endocannabinoids found were Anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), which are said to have a similar molecular structure as phytocannabinoids coming from the plant such as CBD. These endocannabinoids bind to our cannabinoid receptor sites CB1 which is found in the brain's central nervous system (CNS), and CB2 found outside of the CNS and in cells of the immune system. The cannabinoid receptor sites CB1 and CB2 are like locks and located at cell membranes and cannabinoids are like the keys that fit into them to trigger a cellular response to initiate homeostasis. Finally, there are the enzymes that are designed to deconstruct the endocannabinoids after they have served their purpose. AEA is broken down by Fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and 2-AG is broken down by Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL). Each component of the ECS works in tandem with each other to bring the body to homeostasis and make up what is called our endocannabinoid tone, which encompasses the amount of endocannabinoids in our body, the speed they are made and broken down, and the density of receptors in our brain.
CBD With No THC Patches For Pain
Our CBD oil patches are made using a pure CBD isolate meaning that it is just pure CBD completely removed from the rest of the hemp plant. Many people who have drug screen concerns will typically prefer to take either a CBD isolate or broad spectrum CBD product as they will not have any amount of THC. Broad spectrum is a category of CBD products that are made using the full hemp extract including over a hundred different cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and amino acids with just the THC removed through a process called chromatography.
Unfortunately, if you are looking for CBD/THC patches for pain we do not carry those however we often hear people who will either take a full spectrum CBD product with trace amounts of delta 9 THC of 0.3% or less. Other consumers will often take two different products with one being a CBD dominant product and another THC product separately to introduce both into their system. We have a full line of hemp derived THC products in our Strain Snobs product line including Delta 8 THC, Delta 9 THC, Delta 10 THC, HHC, and THC-O in a variety of products such as tinctures, edibles, vape carts, flower, and topicals. Several studies and customer testimonials reveal that THC has its own anti-inflammatory properties that may work even better when taken in combination with CBD by promoting an entourage effect that maximizes both cannabinoids individual potential therapeutic benefits.

CBD Patch Ingredients Breakdown:
Lidocaine
Lidocaine works by helping to block nerve signals in your body. Many familiar over-the-counter products contain Lidocaine to reduce pain and inflammation. That is why we chose Lidocaine for our unique Active CBD Oil Pain Patches. You get all the potential benefits of CBD with the added boost of 4% Lidocaine.
Methacrylic Acid
Methacrylic acid (MAA) is a polymerizable, unsaturated, monocarboxylic acid functional monomer. In copolymers, low levels (≤5%) of MAA improve latex stability, adhesive properties, wettability and pigment dispersion, as well as allowing for post-crosslinking reactions. MAA is commonly used in patches in particular to improve the adhesive properties of the CBD knee patches so they will stick to your skin for longer periods of time.
Ethylhexyl Acrylate
As a plasticizing co-monomer, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate is used in the production of resins for pressure-sensitive adhesives, latex, paints, textile and leather finishes and coatings for paper. This ingredient plays an important role in aiding in the adhesive application of the transdermal patches.
Bentonite
Bentonite clay powder forms when volcanic ash ages and is commonly used in skin products due to all the research that shows that bentonite has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties.
Sodium Stearate
Sodium stearate is an incredibly versatile material used as an emulsifier, dispersant, gelling agent, stabilizer, binder, viscosity modifier, and more. It is a major component of many soaps, cosmetics, and food additives.
Ingredients: Cannabidiol, Lidocaine, Methacrylic Acid, Ethylhexylacrylate, Bentonite and Sodium Stearate.
