CBD Infused Body Lotion Recipe
Cannabis infused skin care products have been around for millenia. Different cultures and civilizations used cannabis topicals as a form of healing and health maintenance for a huge variety of ailments. Potions, salves and topicals have been a staple in many cultures from Asia to the Middle East.
Cannabis infused skin care products are an amazing way to use CBD with almost no psychoactive effects at all. These topical lotions have been reported to be used for pain relief by applying them directly where ever there is discomfort due to muscle tension, arthritis or even migraines.
Skin is the largest organ on the human body and very good at absorbing nutrients when applied directly to it. CBD patches work very well with cannabis infused skin care products because they allow specific nutrients and to pass through the skin without being broken down by the digestive track.
CBD has many soothing properties, one of which allows for making CBD lotion with it.
Making CBD lotion is simple and easy to do at home and it only takes about 30 minutes or less.
How To Make Homemade CBD Lotion
Making CBD lotion at home is easy to do, and you don't need any special equipment or ingredients. It takes about 30 minutes or less depending on how much you make at one time. You can always make a large amount and store it for later use as well.
Making CBD lotion begins with a carrier oil. Lotion can be made by making coconut oil infusions with coconut oil, cannabis flowers/trim and a cooking pot.
Many different oils can make a great CBD lotion, but the most common is coconut oil. Coconut oil has many health benefits and adding CBD to it makes a wonderful CBD lotion.
You need high quality organic material, which means that any male plants, seeds or stems should not be present in your mixture. If you do not have access to fresh cannabis flowers or trim, then there are other options such as either kief or hash.
Add your product to a pot of water and heat it up. Make sure that you do not heat your CBD infused coconut oil above 300 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 20 minutes to maintain the integrity of the cannabinoids.
Once you have made the cannabis infused coconut oil, strain it through a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth and put it in a dish. Allow your infusion to cool until the oil solidifies and separates from the water, which takes about 10 - 15 minutes.
How to Make CBD Lotion from CBD Isolate
Pure, 99% CBD isolate is a crystallized form of the cannabinoid CBD. It contains zero THC. The powder is tasteless and odorless. For each gram of CBD isolate, you are getting at least 990mg of CBD with our isolate.
But how can you use this very potent CBD powder?
Using CBD topically has been suggested to help pain deep within the muscles and joints. Topicals include a wide range of products from cream to salves to massage oil.
One of the easiest things to make is CBD massage/body oil.
Ingredients needed:
500mg CBD Massage/Body Oil:
2 cups of olive oil
½ gram of CBD isolate
A few drops of your favorite essential oil (we like rosemary or lavender)
Recipe Instructions:
Mix thoroughly for the CBD isolate to dissolve and disperse throughout the solution. Adding a little salt or sugar can turn your massage oil into an effective body scrub. You can read more about olive oil and skin care (as well as more modifications to this recipe) here.
If you want to make a CBD lotion with a lotion you already have on hand – you can! The 99% CBD isolate dissolves best in oil-based substances. Lotion containing oil will better mix with the isolate, but any lotion will be thick enough to disperse the CBD isolate throughout the mixture.
FAQ
CBD lotion can be applied to any area of skin and can also be used on the face, but it is always best to check with your doctor before using topicals if you have sensitive skin or suffer from a skin-related condition like psoriasis or rosacea.
