CBD infused brownie recipe at DiscoverCBD.com

New studies are continually coming out showing cannabis to be useful for treating problems like chronic pain and seizures. As cannabis gains more attention as a medicine, people want cannabis brownie recipes even more than ever before.

A cannabis brownie recipe can obviously be made completely with cannabis-infused ingredients, but what if you only want that therapeutic cannabis without all of those extra calories? You can make your cannabis infused brownies using cannabidiol (CBD).

It has become very popular for people to seek out cannabis edibles with high CBD content instead of cannabis with high THC content. Whether you are making cannabis brownies or some other cannabis-infused dessert, finding a way to infuse it with CBD is crucial. Luckily, there are several easy steps involved!

CBD isolate can be added to a multitude of recipes to make your food CBD-infused, including make CBD brownies. One of our favorites is a standard brownie recipe infused with full spectrum CBD oil.

How to Make CBD Brownies

The first step of creating cannabis brownies with CBD is to gather all of the necessary ingredients and supplies that you will need. These include:

  • 3 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil or butter (coconut oil can substituted if using cannabutter)
  • 1 tablespoon cannabis-infused syrup (for a cannabis-infused brownie recipe)
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or cannabis coconut oil if cannabis brownies are being made

You need to decide how potent you want the CBD edibles to be.

This recipe makes about 10 homemade CBD brownies. The typical adult takes about 25mg of CBD per day.

Prepare the CBD Infusion

This is probably the most difficult part of making CBD brownies.

In order to infuse your cannabis into butter or oil you will need to make cannabutter.

This involves soaking ground cannabis flowers in butter overnight and then straining out all of the plant matter. Mix a gram of CBD isolate into 2 cups of oil.

If you do not want to do this step yourself, there is an alternative: buy CBD oil. Simply mix drops of oil with warm melted cannabis butter.

You only need ½ cup of cbd butter for this recipe.

This will leave you with plenty of cannabutter to be used for other recipes.

Prepare the cannabis brownie batter

Once you have cannabis butter or cannabis-infused coconut oil ready to go, you can start working on the cannabis brownie batter.

  1. Melt chocolate chips and cannabis butter in a bowl over boiling water.
  2. When this mixture is smooth, remove it from heat and let it cool for about ten minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, beat eggs in another large bowl until they are light yellow and fluffy.
  4. Once the chocolate has cooled slightly, pour the eggs into the mixture and mix well.
  5. Add sugar to the egg/chocolate/cannabis mixture while mixing slowly.
Make sure all ingredients are well blended before adding:
    1. flour
    2. vanilla extract (or cannabis-infused vanilla extract)
    3. cannabis syrup.

Let the batter sit for about five minutes.

Bake the cannabis brownies

Cannabis brownies made with cannabutter or cannabis coconut oil will be much more potent than cannabis brownies made without cannabis butter.

This is because cannabutter contains both THC and CBD, unlike regular butter.

If cannabis-infused coconut oil was used instead of cannabutter, you can expect your cannabis brownie recipe to have a much more mild effect. The chocolate taste does really well to make the CBD flavor unnoticeable.

Put your cannabis batter into a greased 8x8 inch cake pan. Be sure to use baking cups or aluminum foil when putting the batter into the pan to prevent sticking.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the cannabis brownies are firm.

Decorate cannabis brownies

Once cannabis brownies with CBD have cooled completely, you can decorate them however you like!

Dust cannabis brownies with cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or powdered sugar (if the CBD brownie recipe is not adding cannabis).

You can also drizzle melted chocolate over your cannabis infused dessert to give it that extra touch of "something special".

Enjoy your finished cannabis brownies!

Your cannabis-infused coconut oil will stay good in the refrigerator for about 10 weeks.

If you need to keep cannabis-infused butter longer than this period of time there are several things you can do. The cannabis butter can be stored in the freezer for several months, or cannabis-infused coconut oil can be stored in a cool dry place for as long as six months.

If cannabis brownies are being made from cannabutter, just put cannabis butter in an airtight container and store it at room temperature for two to three weeks.

Remember: cannabis is a medicinal plant and should be treated with respect!

FAQ

You can begin to mix in the cannabis with the butter, making sure to mix thoroughly for around five minutes. Then, begin by melting the chocolate in a bowl placed over simmering water or in the microwave at 10 second intervals until it's completely smooth.
Next, you will need to slowly fold in the flour into your mixture with a spatula until everything is smooth and combined together nicely. You can now pour this on top of your chocolate layer and spread it out gently so that it covers the whole of the tray.
Finally, place your brownie mixture into the oven for around 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until it's firm to the touch and cooked all the way through. Once this step is completed, leave it to cool before you serve or eat.
The potency of the brownies is affected by how much CBD you add to the recipe and how long it is cooked for, so begin with a lower dose and adjust to suit your needs. Start with ~10mg of activated cannabinoids per brownie, then adjust based on desired potency. For a batch of 9 large brownies I use ~500mg of cannabis leaves or trimmings, which is ground in the coffee grinder until powdered.
CBD, when added to a brownie or any food product, is adding THC into it. CBD and THC are what you call synergistic cannabinoids, they work in conjunction with each other to produce their effects on your body. When CBD enters the system through ingestion, it allows for more of the ingested materials to enter your endocannabinoid system. When CBD is ingested, it acts as a 'blocker' of sorts for the cannabinoid receptor sites, preventing them from being overloaded by too much THC or other cannabinoids.
There have been no studies to show the benefits of CBD added into brownie, but there are many reasons why it could be beneficial. What we do know about CBD is that there are very few side-effects associated with it, and what ones it does have can easily be dealt with if they appear. There has also been evidence of the benefits of cannabinoids (like CBD) in relation to pain relief, nausea, epilepsy, arthritis, depression, anxiety, stress, diabetes, cancer, and many others.
