CBD & Self Care

How Does CBD Enhance Your Self Care?

Let’s talk CBD & self care. The words self care are often overused and corny, but they have intrinsic meaning that everyone with a beating heart should think about. Self care/ love starts with understanding the daily things you do for yourself from drinking water to watching movies. As simple as they can seem, they provide comfort and nourishment for the soul and physical body. So what are some more ways we can incorporate self care with authenticity? There’s meditating , walking outside, taking deep breaths, giving our body the sleep it needs, maybe using CBD as a reminder to calm you and your energetic body. In the rest of this blog, we’ll dive into how CBD, a natural plant-based anti-inflammatory, can become a part of your self care routine for the betterment of you.

Adding CBD To Your Self Care Routine

When some people hear self care, they might want to run away as fast as possible, but there's something to be said for taking the time out of your busy day to do something for YOU. Personally, I love to use skincare as a form of loving myself. And my skin appreciates it since I struggle with eczema, acne, and sensitive skin. My routine consists of washing my face, using a toner, applying our Active CBD MCT Natural Oil , moisturizing, then adding sunscreen. Normally this tincture is ingested but since it's made with MCT or coconut oil, it's safe to apply on the skin. My routine may come off as excessive and my skin thanks me every time afterwards, what works for me may not work for you, but this is where it gets fun cause you can try new processes and figure out what you love.

Topicals For Self Care

When my skin is extra angsty, I’ll bust out the good ol’ faithful Active CBD Oil Salve . I make sure to avoid my T-zone because that’s where I am the most oily. I’ll use the salve on my eyelids, avoiding my eyes, which is where most of my eczema is on my face. I’ll also use it on my hands and ankles which is where I seem to find the rest of my sneaky eczema. I find that it helps moisturize my skin and help with the pain that comes when my skin is extra dry and a bit bloody.

Tips When Using CBD For Self Care

For the record, these CBD products need to be used in moderation because of how rich and oily they can be. If they are going on the face, aim to use less. If they are going on any dry parts of the body, use it as needed until you feel relief! A good saying I keep in my arsenal is ‘a little goes a long way.’ There’s definitely a huge metaphor there we could apply to our mental health which goes hand in hand with loving thy self.

Studies on CBD and Self Care

If you aren’t convinced that CBD can do anything for you, consider the following information based on a study led by the Department of General Surgery and Surgical Specialties, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia Medical School, and Second Opinion Medical Network in Italy. The study focuses on the therapeutic use of CBD as a topical, specifically for skin diseases and scarring. The participants were instructed to “administer topical CBD-enriched ointment to lesioned skin areas twice daily for three months treatment.” The results state that topical treatment significantly improved their skin parameters and symptoms. It concludes by saying how CBD ointment is a “safe and effective non-invasive alternative for improving the quality of life in patients with some skin disorders, especially on inflammatory background.” This study suggests that it is safe to apply CBD topically. If you are someone who isn’t comfortable with ingesting CBD, it’s a way to begin exploring the possibilities that CBD can do for you.

It’s important to remember that there are infinite ways to be kind to yourself. There are no right or wrong ways. It’s simply doing what’s healthy and beneficial for you, so listen to your gut and start with baby steps. Consider a daily routine to get acts of self love to be a habit.
