CBD & Your Skin
By Michael Inglehearn

With the everchanging research on CBD and the many success stories it has brought to light with pain, anxiety, ADHD, and so many other ailments one has to wonder, is there any sort of benefit to using CBD for skincare? There are so many different skincare products that it's impossible for one to try all of them out. Most people with acne or eczema already have a product they swear by, but if you're looking for a natural plant-based option then CBD may be the answer for you.

Throughout the last few years there have been many different topicals derived from hemp, especially in areas where marijuana is legal, and for good reason. Research has shown that Cannabis can have anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and antioxidant properties. For example, hemp seed oil contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which can help provide moisture and protection from the sun. But there are other studies that suggest that it does more than just keep your skin from drying out or protecting you from the sun's rays.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) has many receptors throughout the skin which is how THC and CBD react with your body when using a hemp derived topical. THC and CBD activates the ECS to help slow down the production of skin cells. Studies have shown that in cases of psoriasis, where skin cells are replaced every 3 to 5 days instead of the usual 30 days, that various symptoms can be controlled. Think of your ECS as a wake up call for your immune system. Research shows that the main role of the ECS seems to be contributing to the control of cells’ balance, proliferation, differentiation, tolerance and death. It's also shown success when it comes to skin cells and other skin related ailments.
Another case that proved positive results was with dermatitis. After going through a doctor and getting prescribed steroids and anti-fungal cream, this person saw a slow progression. However, after a couple weeks the rash came back worse than before. They decided that since it wasn't working for them and had heard about CBD working for others they'd give it a shot. They bought some CBD oil and combined it with a 1:1 ratio of coconut oil. They applied it to the afflicted area after a hot shower when their pores were open and continued this for a week. By day seven the dermatitis had completely subsided and never came back. Of course, everyone will yield different results as we all host unique endocannabinoid systems. However, the results were hard to ignore in this case.

With the popularity of CBD topicals rising there are a lot of different products out there, so which one should you be using? Everybody will have a different reaction to different products however, Active CBD has come out with a salve that has 150mg of CBD in a 2 oz container at a much lower cost and higher CBD content than most in it's class. Many customers have felt relief with various skin and pain issues while using this product and you could be one of them.
