Everything You Need to Know About Our Full Spectrum CBD Tincture
October 31, 2025Everything You Need to Know About Our Full Spectrum CBD Tincture
In this blog, I will be exploring the fascinating and sometimes confusing world of full spectrum CBD, through my own experience with Active CBD Oil’s Unflavored Full Spectrum Tincture and research into Full Spectrum CBD. Drawing from weeks of experience using this product, I hope to clear up some misconceptions or answer questions you might have when considering full spectrum CBD options.
What Does Full Spectrum CBD Mean?
The term ‘full spectrum’ refers to the full extract of the hemp plant, including all cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and amino acids that can be processed during extraction. This means that full spectrum products contain trace amounts of THC, below 0.3% as per the federally legal requirements, and are still completely non-intoxicating. Research suggests that having more active components may also yield higher effectiveness.
Why Choose Full Spectrum CBD?
Since full spectrum utilizes the entire hemp extract, there are a great deal of potential benefits it has to offer. Terpenes are what give plants their unique taste and smell, as well as having their own health benefits, they play a large role in how a full spectrum product might affect us. For example the terpene linalool, found in lavender and cinnamon, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, anti-anxiety, and may serve as a sleep aid. Flavonoids, which are found in many fruits and vegetables and give plants their color, may be effective antioxidants and have shown neuroprotective benefits. Although, the cannabinoid profile plays the most vital role in how full spectrum products might aid you. Even trace amounts CBG, CBN, CBC, and THC work with CBD to contribute to what’s called the ‘entourage effect’- the idea that the synergistic connection of components may lead to more potential health benefits.
Brazilian researchers from the University of Southern Santa Catarina, conducted a recent study in April, 2025 examining the effectiveness of full spectrum CBD compared to CBD isolate. The researchers aim was to administer full spectrum CBD to a rat model in order to assess the effect on induced inflammation compared to CBD isolate. After 7 days of 15 mg and 30 mg of each, the results found that the full spectrum in both doses had reversed the ailments in 3 separate tests designed to assess specific symptoms caused by the inflammation. They concluded the full spectrum was effective both when taking the lower dose and the higher dose, therefore even taking lower doses of full spectrum CBD may be preferred over taking a higher dose of CBD isolate to achieve results.
Comparing To Broad Spectrum CBD
Broad spectrum products are similar in the sense that all of the hemp extract is used, other than the THC. This makes broad spectrum products a good choice for anyone with drug screen concerns, but it’s important to note that if you have no concern taking trace amounts of THC, full spectrum could be potentially more effective. Many customers love the broad spectrum options, but for more serious ailments, the full entourage could likely be more beneficial.
THC also increases the bioavailability, the rate and amount that your body can absorb and process, of CBD in full spectrum products according to this study. The researchers’ primary goal was to compare the efficacy of isolate, full spectrum, and broad spectrum CBD. Testing on male and female rats, they found that full spectrum CBD showed a 12% (in male) and 21% (in female) increase in bioavailability. The study also demonstrated that the presence of THC increased the permeability of CBD in the body and reduced efflux in the gut wall.
Water Soluble Formula
Discover CBD has our own water soluble formulation for a variety of our tinctures, including our full spectrum tincture. Our water soluble formula can be set apart from other companies primarily in our use of nanotechnology, encapsulation and emulsion. Nano is a unit of measurement, one-billionth of a meter. Our formulation is essentially encapsulating the molecule of CBD in a bubble, called a colloid, that is hydrophilic on the outside, and hydrophobic on the inside, so the CBD is unaffected. The outer layer is the water soluble aspect, as well as the scale of the colloids, being smaller than other formulations they can more effectively disperse in liquid. If you don't like the earthy, natural hemp flavor of the full spectrum tincture, water soluble tinctures are designed to mix with beverages, unlike oil bases that separate.
We only carry our full spectrum tincture in the water soluble formula due to its effectiveness, but we offer a full spectrum pure oil for anyone interested in an oil based sublingual option.
Comparing To Oil Based Formulas
Oil based formulas have less bioavailability, meaning the absorption rate is lower and you may not process as much of the CBD as in a water soluble tincture. Though many people still prefer them over water soluble, we carry a wider variety of water soluble flavors. The absorption rate is even lower if ingested as opposed to applied sublingually, or under the tongue. Our full spectrum capsules, however, are exclusively offered as oil based and are a very popular option since they are a higher dose at 30 mg per capsule.
Full Spectrum Tincture
It is an unflavored tincture; giving it a more raw, earthy quality that many people prefer over flavoring. We offer both a 300 mg option as well as a 900 mg option, the dosing being 10 mg per dropper and 15 mg per dropper respectively, making the 900 mg the higher concentration at 1.5 times as concentrated per volume. These water soluble tinctures are amongst our most popular full spectrum products we offer.
My Experience
One of the most common issues people have with full spectrum oil is the flavor. I personally enjoyed the natural flavoring, I didn’t find it too bitter. It seemed to work more effectively for me than either the broad spectrum or the isolate tinctures have. I had no pain for a solid 5 hours, and felt a sense of clear-headedness and concentration. I’ve been taking it about twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the late afternoon, and originally took 10 mg each time but recently graduated up to 15 mg. I somewhat struggle with the sublingual method of consumption, usually accidentally swallowing it, but I’ve found much better results from holding it under the tongue as best as I can. I usually take CBD for stress management and some mild pain relief, and I had never tried a full spectrum option until now, but it completely exceeded my initial expectations and I will likely be using these tinctures for years after this.
Conclusion
In the expansive world of CBD products it can be challenging finding something that works right for you. Hopefully this blog has opened up full spectrum CBD as a potential option for you, and demystified any confusion you may have had about full spectrum CBD. Cannabidiol, in conjunction with trace THC and other minor cannabinoids, healing terpenes and flavonoids, could be the relief you've been looking for. Don't hesitate to try it out!
