Can CBN Oil Help You Sleep Better?

A Sleepless Night

Night descends and darkness shrouds the Earth as a sign for its inhabitants to rest and start anew when the sun rises. With the rise of the moon, silence fills the air as people steadily fall into deep slumber. Alas this silence makes even the slightest sounds deafening as you remain the last awake when your other household members are peacefully asleep. The television show playing in the background, the snoring of your partner or pet, every slight creek and groan of floorboards during a midnight bathroom trip, and even the drip of a leaky faucet becomes a slow meticulous war drum pounding in your head!

How long have you been laying here? You roll over to check the time, and yikes that was a mistake! It’s 2 AM and you only have so much time left before having to start a new day once again feeling sleep deprived. Frustration takes over making any attempt to relax a lost cause. Whether it is from feeling mentally or physically restless, many of us have experienced the torture of feeling tired enough and wanting to sleep, but being unable to so.

For some fortunate beings, fatigue from a long day is all it takes to fall asleep easily. However this is not always the case for many people. The overwhelming anecdotal evidence we regularly hear is that CBN has been effective for people to not only fall asleep easier, but stay asleep longer and upon waking feel more refreshed and energized to tackle a new day. In this blog we will explore CBN oil in depth and how it may help with sleep.

A Health Problem We Shouldn’t Sleep On

Even after a single night of poor quality or limited sleep one can learn how much more difficult it may be to function. Now imagine how difficult it can be for all of the people who frequently struggle with getting enough high quality sleep.

The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a primary data collection telephone survey in the U.S that addresses the health of its residents. Their collected data revealed around 32.8% of adults report sleeping less than 7 hours a night. This is an alarming rate that continues to show a linear pattern of more people reporting less sleep each year. Most sleep experts assert that a healthy amount of sleep for most adults ranges between 7 to 9 hours a night.

Everyone may have their own underlying reasons why sleep quality becomes an issue on occasion such as stress, consuming too much caffeine, or simply not leaving enough time to sleep. Although for many people the issue unfortunately becomes a nightly occurrence due to a chronic sleep disorder. The Institute of Medicine (US) Committee on Sleep Medicine and Research conducted a comprehensive review, Sleep Disorders and Sleep Deprivation: An Unmet Public Health Problem. They discovered that an estimated 50 to 70 million Americans chronically suffer from a disorder of sleep. In their review they highlight the most prevalent sleep disorders and statistics below:

  • Insomnia: Characterized by chronically having issues falling or staying asleep, which approximately 30 million Americans suffer from.

  • Sleep Apnea: When someone experiences brief periods of stopped breathing caused by airway obstruction. Nearly 6 million US residents have been diagnosed and need to utilize CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) masks while sleeping.

  • Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): A neurological condition that causes an irresistible urge to move the legs, which affects about 6 million individuals in the US.

Symptoms of Sleep Deprivation

Sleep is essential for us to function properly and live to the best of our ability. Lack of sleep can be debilitating with symptoms including:

  • Fatigue

  • Weakness

  • Compromised immunity

  • Headaches

  • Trouble focusing

  • Memory issues

  • Irritability

Unfortunately the longer we go with poor quality sleep each night, these symptoms may become progressively worse and may even lead to severe symptoms or conditions that could perpetuate the issue.

What is CBN Oil?

Now that we have discussed how vital sleep is for our wellbeing and how the lack thereof can negatively impact the quality of our lives, let’s move on to exploring what CBN is and if it may be a potential remedy.

CBN was first discovered in the 1940’s and originally thought to be the reason behind the psychoactive effects of cannabis until they discovered THC later on. As research progressed we learned that CBN is non-psychoactive like CBD and CBG. Although CBN is a more rare cannabinoid typically only found in higher amounts in aged cannabis, it has become amongst the big five of cannabinoids in research along with CBD, THC, CBG, and CBC thanks to its potential health benefits.

CBN Oil Benefits

Among the most common anecdotal feedback we hear from those who have tried CBN is that it may have relaxing and sedative effects. Therefore people should not drive or operate machinery when learning how this cannabinoid affects them. Researchers are exploring CBN for many issues including insomnia, glaucoma, inflammation, muscle spasms, loss of appetite, and seizure disorders. More research is needed to fully understand the extent of the potential benefits of CBN. Although most studies are specifically focused on examining how CBN affects sleep.

CBN Side Effects

When it comes to trying out anything new, it can be assuring to know of any possible side effects you might run into. Much like CBD, most people find that CBN is generally very well tolerated with rare or mild side effects. Some consumers report that when taking too high of a dose they experience drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, upset stomach, and dry mouth. Others share that in cases of taking a higher dose that they may even feel groggy the next morning. This is why it is important to start with low doses and gradually increase as needed until you find your goldilocks zone, or perfect dose for optimal potential results.

If you are taking any medications and have any concerns about CBN drug interactions, it is best to consult your doctor. Some evidence suggests that CBN may interact in a similar way as CBD with some medications that follow the ‘grapefruit rule’. In cases of certain medications that are processed by our liver such as the blood thinner Warfarin, the ‘grapefruit rule’ is an interaction where metabolic enzymes in our liver could release more or less of said medication. However we have heard great feedback from customers who do take both CBD and CBN with medications by working closely with their doctor to determine safe dosing times and levels.

Is CBN Oil Legal?

Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp and its myriad of cannabinoids such as CBN became federally legal so long as the product contains trace amounts of THC of 0.3% or less. This made it so hemp derived CBN products are readily available to those in need to buy online CBN for sale. Some states may have restrictions on specific cannabinoids so it is always best to research your local laws if you plan to shop local for CBN near you. Although CBN is currently legal federally, and therefore we are able to ship CBN to all 50 states!

Does CBN Show Up On a Drug Test?

Ultimately any cannabinoid we take has the risk to show up on a drug screen, although most drug screens may be specifically looking for THC rather than CBN. However the two are closely linked as CBN originates from THC. With time the hemp plant is exposed to light, heat and air which creates a chemical reaction called oxidation or oxidative degradation. This process involves a substance changing because of the addition of oxygen, which could also result in the loss of hydrogen atoms. CBN is created when THC goes through oxidation however the changes in the chemical compound alters the way it binds to our receptors within our body and brain so that it is no longer psychoactive like THC. However it is important to know that due to its close relation to THC, it may result in false positives for THC drug testing according to some studies.

What Happens When You Sleep?

In order to better understand how effective CBN may be for sleep it may be helpful to to take a closer look at what happens when we sleep. Fundamentally we know that sleep is necessary for our health and well-being. Current hypotheses suggest that sleep serves several functions including:

  • Neural maturation

  • Consolidation of memories and learning

  • Cleaning up mental clutter by erasing synapses to ‘forget’ useless information that may be clogging up our synaptic network.

  • Improve wakefulness and cognition

  • Conservation of metabolic energy

  • Regulating hormones

  • Repairing tissues

Research has revealed that our sleep consists of five stages that each progressively lead us to deeper slumber; Wake, N1, N2, N3, and REM. In an 8 hour average night’s sleep we will usually go through four to five sleep cycles which will last around 90 to 110 minutes to complete.

Generally each stage is categorized by either non-rapid eye movement (NREM) or rapid eye movement (REM). In stages N1, N2, and N3 our eyes are still. Meanwhile in the last stage of REM sleep, that is when our eyes may rapidly move and when the most dreams occur.

Wake

When it comes to comprehending our brain activity and what happens while awake and sleeping, researchers will commonly utilize an electroencephalogram (EEG), a test that specifically measures electrical activity. Our brain cells are always active and communicate by means of electrical impulses that show up as waves on an EEG. Studies using an EEG have shown that “During eye-open wakefulness, beta waves predominate. Alpha waves become the predominant pattern as individuals become drowsy and close their eyes.” Beta waves generally dominate while in an alert state of concentrating, being engaged in active thinking or problem solving. We can thank our beta waves for the racing thoughts some of us may experience while trying to lay down for bed. However after we gradually relax and close our eyes then alpha waves become dominant. Alpha waves are typically observed when we are awake but in a relaxed, meditative state.

N1 Light Sleep

This is the first stage of sleep that we enter right after falling asleep. Typically this stage is the shortest, only lasting a few minutes and makes up only about 5% of our total sleep time. At this stage more than 50% of the alpha waves are replaced with low-amplitude frequencies as our brain activity slows down even more. In this stage, muscle tone is present and our breathing occurs regularly.

N2 Deeper Sleep

As our sleep progresses into this stage, our heartbeat, muscle activity, breathing rate and body temperature decrease. This second stage of NREM lasts around 25 minutes in the first cycle and gradually gets longer with each successive cycle, making up about 45% of our total sleep time.

Our brain activity slows down even further and N2 is characterized by the presence of sleep spindles and K-complexes. Sleep spindles are powerful short bursts of neuronal firing that last about up to three seconds and occur every three to six seconds. This mechanism is renowned for its potential function for synaptic plasticity, which is vital for memory consolidation.

K-complexes are long delta waves that peak in electrical activity, immediately followed by a negative dip. Delta waves are the slowest of all brainwave frequencies and demonstrated in our most restful, deep and dreamless sleep when the brain is at complete rest and recovery. These K-complexes are also suggested to contribute to memory consolidation and maintaining sleep.

N3 Deepest Non-REM Sleep

This is the deepest stage of sleep, our heart rate and breathing slow down dramatically. Research suggests that N3 is when our body will regrow and repair tissues, build muscle and bone, and fortify our immune system. We typically spend around 25% of our total sleep time in this vital stage. For some individuals this is also generally when sleepwalking, bedwetting, and night terrors may occur.

Due to being in such a deep sleep, it is also the most difficult stage to wake someone up. When woken up abruptly in this state, it is common to experience sleep inertia, a mental fogginess or state of confusion that may moderately impair our mental performance for around 30 minutes to an hour.

REM Dreaming Sleep

While our eyelids are still closed they may dart side to side which is a sure tell sign that someone is in the REM stage and likely dreaming. During REM our brain activity looks more similar to an awake state as beta and theta waves predominate thanks to our dreaming, which especially characterizes this stage of sleep as it is when most of our dreams happen and particularly our most vivid dreams. Often REM sleep is called ‘paradoxical sleep' because of the combination of high brain activity while lacking muscle tone as our body rests aside from the eyes and diaphragmatic muscles. Our leg and arm muscles become temporarily unable to move which prevents us from acting out our dreams.

We spend roughly 25% of our total sleep time in this stage which usually starts about 90 minutes after the sleep state, with the first cycle around 10 minutes up to the final one lasting up to an hour. Research indicates that this stage serves a vital role in learning and memory. Consolidation of procedural and spatial memory particularly takes place during this stage, which would explain why in the subsequent days after learning a new task or being in unusual circumstances people may spend more time in REM sleep. Additionally it may also help with mood regulation and improving mental concentration while awake.

CBN Oil For Sleep

Have you ever felt a ‘sinking into the mattress’ feeling where as your body gets more relaxed it almost feels heavier until you ease into a deep slumber? Well this is the most common type of experience we regularly hear people share when they try using CBN for sleep. Although the anecdotal evidence is abundant, scientific research on the effectiveness of CBN for sleep has been somewhat scarce. However studies that have been conducted show promising results that back up the anecdotes of people’s experience using CBN.

In a recent 2024 study “A sleepy cannabis constituent: cannabinol and its active metabolite influence sleep architecture in rats”, Australian researchers from University of Sydney examine the effects of CBN on sleep in rats using polysomnography. They conclude that giving CBN to rats increased total sleep time by extending NREM and REM sleep while decreasing wakefulness. Additionally they discovered that sleep stability was evident by examining a longer duration of NREM sleep bouts, which they note is a direct link to improving overall sleep quality.

The researchers also measured high brain concentrations of CBN and its metabolites and examined their activity on our cannabinoid CB1 receptors, predominantly found within our brain and central nervous system and known to influence sleep. They discovered that “CBN and the terminal metabolite 11-COOH-CBN had minimal activity, but the primary metabolite 11-OH-CBN behaved as a partial agonist, eliciting similar potency and efficacy to Δ9-THC in the membrane potential assay. We then explored the effects of 11-OH-CBN on sleep and found that it was active and influenced sleep architecture.” When we consume cannabinoids like CBN, our body metabolizes them in our liver where our enzymes will naturally convert some CBN into its primary metabolite 11-OH-CBN. At that stage it has a higher ability to directly bind to our CB1 receptors much like THC, which could indicate how it may be so effective for promoting great quality sleep.

THC For Sleep

A common reason many people share that they use THC is to help them sleep better. Edibles such as gummies are a popular method of consumption since they may offer a longer potential effect while taking about an hour or two to absorb. Although THC is psychoactive, some prefer to take a THC gummy thirty to sixty minutes before bed so that they may not feel the high but still gain the potential sleep aid. Often when taking higher doses in particular or an Indica dominant THC extract rich in calming and relaxing terpene profiles THC will usually have a more bodily sedative effect.

Research has also examined the potential effects of THC on our sleep. Researchers from the University of Illinois, Chicago published a research article “Effects of Cannabinoids on Sleep and their Therapeutic Potential for Sleep Disorders” to deeper understand how THC affects our sleep. They observed with an EEG the sleep architecture of our NREM and REM cycles from four variables that are shown below; normal sleep without THC (a), short term use (b), long term use (c), and withdrawal from THC (d).

Kaul M, Zee PC, Sahni AS. Effects of Cannabinoids on Sleep and their Therapeutic Potential for Sleep Disorders. Neurotherapeutics. 2021 Jan;18(1):217-227. doi: 10.1007/s13311-021-01013-w. Epub 2021 Feb 12. PMID: 33580483; PMCID: PMC8116407.

Short Term Use of THC Effects on Sleep

The researchers observed that after acute exposure and short term use of THC multiple effects including more sleep consolidation, it took less time to fall asleep, greater total sleep time, and decreased time spent awake after starting a sleep cycle. Notably there was also decreased REM sleep, which would potentially explain why we may experience less dreams when using THC. Additionally there was an increased amount of time spent in slow wave sleep NREM stage 3 sleep, which is considered to be our deepest sleep and most difficult stage to wake from.

Long Term Use of THC Effects on Sleep

When analyzing the data for chronic use of THC for sleep, the researchers discovered that effects varied compared to short term use, possibly due to individuals developing a tolerance to using THC. This is commonly seen after using THC for some time where individuals may need to take higher doses to maintain the same potential benefits. Instead, long term use of THC may actually cause us to spend less time in slow wave sleep along with REM sleep, reduce total sleep time, and prolong the time it takes us to actually fall asleep. More research is needed to better understand the effects of long term use of THC on sleep. Although THC has shown effective results short term, using it long term may lead to lower effectiveness unless we perhaps take higher doses to compensate for a building tolerance. Another option of course would be to take a short break from using THC for a couple of weeks to help reset your system.

Effects of THC Withdrawal on Sleep

Withdrawal effects are generally minimal for those who may use THC short term. However for chronic heavy users, they may experience withdrawal related sleep disturbances. Withdrawal effects may present themselves about 24-72 hours after discontinuing use of THC, which may persist for up to 6-7 weeks. Researchers observed sleep patterns for heavy THC users experiencing withdrawal and found that they had a less total time spent asleep, decreased slow wave sleep, and worse sleep efficiency. If you are at a stage of needing to take a break from THC or even quit altogether then trying another cannabinoid such as CBD or CBN may help during this difficult time of poor sleep.

CBN and THC For Sleep

Now that we have explored how CBN alone and THC by itself may help with sleep, let’s examine how they may work when combined. It is well known that cannabinoids often work better together producing an entourage effect where CBN and THC enhance each other’s potential benefits.

In a recent study, “Novel Formulation of THC and CBN in a Repeat-Action Tablet Improves Objective and Subjective Measurements of Sleep,” medical marijuana patients were given a tablet containing 10 mg THC and 5 mg CBN. Participants were given sleep tracking apps for self reported data and quantified data was gathered from the devices used to measure sleep quality. With the data gathered, the researchers concluded that combining THC and CBN resulted in both improved objective and perceived sleep quality with participants reporting fewer awakenings and feeling more well rested in the morning.

CBD and CBN Oil For Sleep

Before CBN ascended to be the one of the most popular cannabinoids to use for sleep, CBD was the reigning champion and we still regularly hear anecdotal stories from consumers who rave about how well they sleep using CBD. Researchers conducted the study “Effects of a cannabidiol/terpene formulation on sleep in individuals with insomnia: a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, crossover study” to better understand how CBD may improve sleep. Their data suggests that CBD may increase the percentage of time we spend in slow wave sleep and REM sleep. This may be a hint as to why some may find they have more vivid or strange dreams when using CBD before bed.

You may have seen more ratio products that combine both CBD and CBN on the market now. These products such as CBN gummies may come in a variety of different ratios such as 1:2 that may yield 5 mg CBN and 10 mg CBD per dose as an example. As discussed earlier, when combining different cannabinoids they may have a more synergistic result called the entourage    effect.

In a recent 2024 study “A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study of the Safety and Effects of CBN With and Without CBD on Sleep Quality”, researchers assess the efficacy of taking both CBN and CBD for sleep. They tested several variables of taking CBN alone at 20 mg and alongside varying amounts of CBD ranging from 10 mg to 100 mg. The researchers determined through the collected data, that the dose of CBN alone reduced the number of times participants would awaken and showed fewer sleep disturbances. However the researchers were surprised to find that the variables combined with CBD did not improve sleep quality and may have actually counteracted the benefits of CBN. They did reconcile that like any study there were some limitations such as having only a limited window of seven consecutive nights to gather data. As part of their discussion they explain how for some individuals taking CBD may have a more energizing effect.

Collective feedback we regularly hear is that people may take lower doses of CBD during the day for an energizing effect and better focus. Then at night take a higher dose to promote better sleep. We still frequently have consumers share that CBD and CBN products have worked the best for their sleep issues. At the end of the day there is no one size fits all solution as we all host our own unique endocannabinoid system. We may see varying results with different cannabinoids and ratios so it is worthwhile to experiment with these variables.

CBN VS. Melatonin For Sleep?

If you have struggled with sleep you likely have heard of, or even tried taking melatonin. For those who have not then you may be wondering, what is melatonin? Well it is a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland that acts as a chemical messenger to our hypothalamus in our brain saying ‘it’s time to slow down functions for the day and go to sleep.’ Melatonin plays an important role in regulating our sleep cycle and circadian rhythm. Some people who struggle with sleep may not be producing enough melatonin, which is where supplementing with extra melatonin has become a popular potential remedy. In a 2022 survey conducted by the organization  Sleep Foundation, they measured that about 27.4% of U.S adults take melatonin as a sleep aid.

However it is generally only recommended to try after trying other methods of improving sleep to no avail. Generally people will only supplement with melatonin in short term use for one to two months to get their sleep cycle back on the right track. More research is needed to fully understand the effects of taking melatonin long term. It is important to note that one should always discuss with your doctor to discuss if taking melatonin might be right for you.

There have been numerous studies that have shown the effectiveness of melatonin although how does melatonin compare to CBN? In the 2024 research article “Exploring the Efficacy of Cannabinol in Sleep Enhancement: A Breakthrough in Non-Intoxicating Solutions,” the authors sought to answer this exact question. In the double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial they compared different doses of CBN ranging from 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg with another group taking 4 mg melatonin, and lastly a placebo group as a control. Through the data collected, the researchers concluded that each dose of CBN yielded statistically equivalent results, each improving sleep quality to the same degree as taking melatonin.

Unfortunately some people may not tolerate taking extra melatonin or experience negative side effects such as nausea, headaches, dizziness, and drowsiness. If you have tried melatonin and either it did not work or you were sensitive to taking it then using CBN may yield comparable results to get a better night’s rest.

Where To Buy CBN Oil?

With the rising popularity of using CBN for sleep, there are more places offering CBN oil for sale now than ever. A more saturated market often makes it more difficult to determine which CBN products are the best quality and may actually work for you. It is vital to do your research on where you may get CBN for sale. Checking for third party lab results will be one of the best ways to ensure you know exactly what is in your product. Shopping somewhere that specializes in cannabinoids such as a hemp retail store or marijuana dispensary is ideal so you can have experts in the industry answering your questions. Just remember if you need to stick to THC free CBN products then shopping at a hemp retail store will be the way to go. In contrast if you are looking to try a ratio product with higher levels of THC with CBN then checking out a dispensary near you will be optimal.

Here at Discover CBD, we send out every batch we make of CBN oil for third party lab testing and have over 10 years of hemp derived cannabinoid manufacturing experience to provide the best quality CBN products possible. Since we make our own house brand of products under Active CBD Oil, our team is highly knowledgeable about them and how CBN works with our endocannabinoid system. We are always more than happy to help answer any questions you have. Let’s highlight some of our more popular products our customers seeking CBN oil buy.

CBN Oil Tincture

If you find that you struggle to fall asleep and want a product that may absorb fast then perhaps you could try taking a CBN oil tincture. CBN tinctures, commonly referred to as CBN drops, are taken the sublingual method of holding the oil under the tongue for a minute or two and swallowing the excess. All of our blood vessels under the tongue act as a highway into our bloodstream. On average most people notice the potential relaxing effects of CBN within around fifteen to twenty minutes when taking CBN under the tongue. Typically these effects usually last around 4-6 hours, which may not only help people fall asleep but get better quality of sleep through the night.

Traditionally most CBN oil tinctures will be classified as an ‘oil based’ tincture meaning that the CBN is infused into a carrier oil such as MCT oil. However here at Discover CBD we have our own proprietary formula of Water Soluble CBN Tinctures that are specifically designed to maximize absorption rates. In terms of bioavailability or the percentage of CBN that we may actually absorb, research has shown that oil based CBN may yield around 40-60% absorption rates. In contrast, water soluble CBN was suggested to be a rate closer to 60-80%, whether taken under the tongue or mixed into drinks. Water soluble formulas add versatility of how they can be taken either under the tongue or by mixing the drops into a drink such as an herbal nighttime chamomile tea. The latter will usually take a while longer to absorb closer to around 30 minutes to an hour but usually lasts longer, with many sharing it lasts closer to 8 hours.

A major advantage of going for a tincture is they will offer more flexibility with controlling your dose. For example our 300 mg CBN tincture yields 10 mg in a full 1 ml dropper. Many droppers like the ones we use are graduated with quarter markings so you can start with even as low as ¼ of a dropper for a 2.5 mg dose. In fact, most people share that they prefer to start low and gradually increase their dose by a quarter or half a dropper as needed until finding their goldilocks zone that is just right for them.

CBD and CBN Gummies

If staying asleep is a major issue you deal with then perhaps opting instead for an ingestion product such CBN Gummies might be worth trying out. Edibles like CBD and CBN gummies take longer to absorb around an hour or two however the potential duration of effect usually ranges from around 6 to 8 hours. Although CBN tinctures might absorb faster and more efficiently, gummies will usually taste much better and are super convenient to take.

If you were curious to see how effective taking both CBD and CBN for sleep would be, then many gummies also come in varying ratios of cannabinoids. A popular third party and reputable brand we sell is Wyld who make a 5:1 ratio of CBD to CBN. Each Wyld Elderberry CBN gummy contains 25 mg of CBD and 5 mg of CBN. This ratio is great for anyone who may already use CBD for sleep and want to see if adding some CBN can enhance their sleep to the next level. Customers rave about the delicious taste of these gummies made with real Elderberry fruit and are both vegan and gluten free making them more accessible to people with dietary restrictions. Some prefer to start by cutting these gummies into halves to start low and work their way up as needed.

CBN Isolate Powder

Want to try pure CBN on its own to better assess how effective it may be for you? Well if you are also on a budget or savvy in the kitchen then you might be interested in using CBN isolate powder. CBN completely removed from the rest of the hemp plant will come in the form of a mildly bitter white powder. The powder is incredibly versatile as it can be taken directly by holding it under the tongue, mixed into food or drinks, and smoked or vaped.

However more commonly people share they prefer to use CBN powder to infuse into their own carrier oil to make tinctures, topicals, edibles, vapes, and sometimes even topicals. When making your own products you can even add in other ingredients to compliment sleep and adjust your potency according to your dosing needs. Additionally you can incorporate other cannabinoids using CBD isolate and CBG isolate. Playing around with different ratios is much more accessible when working with the CBN isolate powder as cannabinoids are oil soluble and can all be infused into one carrier base if you want to. If you have any interest in learning more about what all you can do with CBN isolate powder then please feel free to read some of these other helpful articles:

We offer individual grams of CBN or even bulk CBN isolate for retail so you can get some great deals if you need to order in larger quantities. If you might instead have a business looking to make your own CBN products or sell them then we also offer wholesale CBN for even better deals.

Tips For Healthy Sleep

Although CBN may aid us in getting a great night’s sleep, there are also many other great habits and techniques that we can implement for healthy sleep. Before we close our eyes and this blog let’s explore some tips that may help:

  • Melatonin production can be inhibited by light so it is best to avoid prolonged exposure to screens from devices and cut off any use at least an hour before bedtime.

  • Our body works within a circadian rhythm so establishing a consistent sleep schedule that allots yourself 8 hours of sleep is ideal.

  • Cut off any consumption of caffeine after around 2 to 3 pm as the effects may take around 6 to 8 hours to wear off.

  • Eat dinner a couple of hours before bedtime to give yourself enough time to properly digest before laying down and avoid going to bed too hungry or feeling full.

  • Create a nightly ritual that may help signify to your body and mind that it is time for bed. This could be any relaxation technique such as taking a bath, journaling, or meditating.

  • Engage in some low intensity physical activity focusing on deliberate breathing and movement such light stretching or yoga.

  • Create an ideal relaxing, dark and quiet environment to sleep in.

  • Some evidence suggests that it is best to sleep in a cooler environment of around 60 to 67° F.

  • Utilizing white noise such as a fan may help as a relaxation tool to drown out other noises while creating a hypnotic rhythm.

  • Sleeping with a cuddle buddy such as a partner or pet may help you relax and feel secure to sleep better.

  • Reading a book may work for some, however can sometimes be a double edged sword if you get too engrossed in the book and it keeps you up longer.

  • Manage stress by doing some deep square breathing exercises where you may inhale for say 30 seconds, hold for another 30 seconds, exhale for the same time, and finally hold before repeating the cycle.

Dreamland Awaits

If you feel like it has been too long since you last woke up feeling refreshed and currently considering possible natural remedies for sleep, then perhaps CBN may help. Research has shown that CBN, whether taken alone or in combination with other cannabinoids such as CBD or THC may offer better quality sleep. Collective data unveils that CBN may make it easier to fall asleep and stay in a deeper state of sleep for longer. If you were already using melatonin, CBD or THC to help you sleep, and they no longer seem as effective, studies reveal that CBN could yield comparable results and so it might be a possible alternative. Everyone may see different results with every cannabinoid so it is possible that you might even see better results using CBN or combining it with your other preferred cannabinoids for sleep to promote the entourage effect.

Imagine laying down after taking CBN and slowly feeling your body become heavier with each deep breath. From your toes trickling gradually up to your head where even your eyelids feel heavy. Shortly after you can no longer keep your eyes open, slumber takes you on a journey deep into your subconscious as dreamland awaits you. Want to feel a deep sense of physical relaxation? Try out CBN and we hope that it is just what you need to restore balance and get back into a smooth flow of your circadian rhythm again.
