My CBD Fitness Routine

It’s no surprise. There are as many reasons to take CBD as there are ways to take CBD, and personally I find different products work best for me based on the occasion. I’m a sufferer of mental health woes and chronic pain, but I’m also a lover of a good gym session. I adore lifting weights and have developed my own CBD routine around that to enable me to not only push myself in my workouts, but have better recovery days as well. My routine consists of a few products ranging from full spectrum CBD tinctures to topicals and even CBD isolate transdermal patches.

So let’s start at the beginning. When I’m preparing to hit the gym before heavy weight lifting sessions I make sure to grab a good scrunchie along with my Active CBD Oil 900mg full spectrum CBD tincture. The drive over to my gym is about 15 minutes from me, which means if I take my tincture sublingually (under the tongue) right before leaving the house it will begin to affect me as I’m arriving. I typically take a full dropper, which is a 15mg dose. I find that I still stay energized throughout my workout, but the edge of a particularly difficult session is taken off. I’m still able to recognize my body’s boundaries as to not hurt myself when taking CBD before a workout, and I have also found being proactive brings me to a better recovery too.

That brings me to the next stage of my CBD workout routine: recovery. Recovery days can be some of the most trying. I love feeling the soreness of a good workout the next day -- to a point. After leg day, I still have to run up and down the stairs to get in and out of my third story apartment -- which can be challenging without a good pain relieving regimine. So what do I use? My go to is the Active CBD Oil transdermal patches. Each patch contains 60mg of THC-free CBD, which is way too much for me, so I cut them up into quarters for a 15mg dose. I place them on my forearm where the skin is veinier for better absorption. Usually these are enough to do it, but if I’m still experiencing more soreness than I’d like I’ll incorporate other products, like topicals.

If I have a particular sore muscle group I will apply a topical. My favorite topical is the 5:1 Strain Snobs salve. It contains 500mg of Delta 8 THC and 100mg of CBD. Since it is applied to the skin, it isn’t intoxicating like if you were to ingest Delta 8 THC. When I need it, I just apply it to the area, and reapply throughout the day if I feel the need. In doing this in conjunction with ingestible methods I feel like I am treating my muscle soreness from multiple angles. I don’t use the topical every recovery day, but I find having it on hand to be incredibly helpful.

My routine is pretty simple and ever-evolving, but I’ve found this method to be the most fool-proof so far. Everyone will respond to CBD differently, so it may take some time to figure out what works best for you. This can be a great place to start, especially if you are looking to get active but don’t have the time to rest all day after an intense workout.
