CBD and Paint Pouring

CBD is a wonderful tool that people use to help with stress, and I find that it is even more effective for me when combined with other stress-relieving activities like painting. Creating art can have a very positive effect on your mental health, and there are countless ways of doing this, no matter what your skill level is. I am not at all confident in my ability to paint still-lifes or realistic portraits, so my favorite method of painting is an abstract technique called “pouring.”

I generally use the Water Soluble 300mg Full Spectrum Tincture daily for stress, but sometimes on particularly difficult days I will also dab CBD Shatter With Terps while I paint, as this calms me down quite  a bit and helps me devote all of my focus to the project at hand. Sometimes all I need is a calm evening vaping CBD and painting to set me back on track and put me in a better position to face the next day.

Paint pouring is a technique that creates abstract pieces that appear to be melting off of the canvas, even after they dry.  There are infinite results that can come from this method, you could do it millions of times with the same materials and get a different result each time.  I find this especially relaxing because there is no pressure or expectation for it to come out looking a certain way. Of course you can influence the end result  by adjusting your materials and the way you pour, but in the end the paint and gravity have the final say in how your painting turns out. It is very calming and therapeutic to watch the paint flow and form its own designs.

Anyone can create beautiful pieces of art with acrylic pouring and it’s worth trying, even if you don’t normally consider yourself a painter. Grab some paints and pouring medium and start pouring! There really is no wrong way to do it, as long as you accept that it will take on a life of its own. It’s a lot of fun to use the same paints and colors on different canvases and see how differently they can turn out!

It is so incredibly important to make time for creative activities, especially when you’re feeling stressed, processing difficult life events, or grieving a personal loss. It doesn’t have to be painting specifically, as creativity takes many forms. Just keep creating!  There are a million excuses not to, but you will thank yourself if you make a habit of including creative outlets in your schedule.
